This project is a master planned residential development on existing farm sites, approximately 41ha near the NorthWest Shopping Centre in Westgate, Auckland. When the project reaches completion, there will be an excess of 1000 new homes, with the style of housing mainly being two-level terraced blocks or duplex. It is expected the project will take eight to 10 years to complete.

Woods Involvement 

The team at Woods has been providing core services such as surveying and civil engineering, to aid the master planning process, land use consents, and subdivision consents. Woods’ Surveyors and Engineers has worked to deliver the first stage of the project back in 2019 - this work comprised 90 new residential lots, and associated new roading network off Don Buck Rd.

Challenges

The biggest challenge we faced was bringing large scale infrastructure into this rural site, which needed to be completed prior to the early stages of this project. This meant coordinating with Auckland Transport and Auckland Council to ensure all infrastructure requirements were met. 

Overcoming these challenges came down to having clear communication with other parties involved around infrastructure and development timelines. As we managed the entirety of this project which also involved multiple Woods’ disciplines, it simplified communication processes and ensured a timely delivery.

Woods performance

Currently, Stage 2 is almost complete with 76 terraced homes, and Stage 3 is well underway with 63 terraced homes, which is expected to be finished by the end of 2021.
